I had the distinct pleasure of meeting, performing with and being with Bernie back in 1976 during the "Mothership Connection" Tour. I was invited by my good friend Gary "Mudbone" Cooper out to be a special guest vocalist with Bootsy's Rubber Band who opened for Parliament. I will always remember his down-to-earthness with any and everyone he encountered. Great musician, even greater human being!

My dear, old friend. How sad I have become today. My heart is broken at the news of your passing. I will forever miss our conversations about everything and nothing in particular. Your smile always came through on the other end of the phone, no matter where you were in the world. Such fun we had when you were in NYC for shows. Thank you for bringing me into your circle of life, and for bringing the music to the world. I will miss you tremendously. Thank you for the memories and the wonderfully happy moments.
