15-year old Priscilla Sanchez attends North Hunterdon High School. She states: ever since I was little, there was always a “click” when it came to music. There was something about the way it made me feel inside that had me wanting to play an instrument and in the summer leading into 7th grade, I got my alto saxophone and had my cousin teach me. I soon discovered there was so much more to music than just listening to it, that it is a passionate form of art that I wanted to be a part of. My middle school band director (Mark Fisher) had a huge influence on me and helped shape me into the musician I am today though his deep connection to music. I have also learned to play tenor and soprano saxophone. I am currently part of the NHHS Marching band, Concert Band, Jazz Band and the Pit Orchestra. I am very honored to be receiving this Scholarship from the legendary Bernie Worrell himself. Further, I am very grateful to know that my wonderful band directors (Vincent Angeline and Perry Andrews) considered me for such a life-changing award. Their dedication is one of the numerous qualities I admire about them. Although my plans for the future are unclear, I know music will always be a part of my life.
